Adaptations work out, yes I believe so. Not having being read the novel, I feel the movie has a lot of feelings in itself. A perfect movie for the romantics, it involves the great love of an Irish man for his love as he was detected with brain tumour. He writes letters for his wife to get her through her grief. He even plans out a holiday for the lady, taking his mother in law into confidence. For the wife, it is largely a mystery as to how the man was able to make the letters get delivered and make the tour plan so much in advance but the lady stops thinking and gets involved in the guiding ways of the letters. She rediscovers how much she loves him still now but at the same time, she also finds the motivation from the letters to get up going and to carry on living her life. Nice watch with your partner, especially after you have had a bad fight.
